Group size and philosophy
The minimum group size is usually 5 persons, and the maximum is usually no more than 16 plus 2 leaders. For groups consisting of less than 5 travellers and for individual travellers we send separate quotations. Besides our philosophy of flexibility, we put a great emphasis on protecting the treasures of the visited areas, thus ensuring that future visitors will be able to enjoy the same experience. Our guides outline the most important rules related to protected habitats and species for the participants at the beginning of each tour. The travel contract includes an eco-code of conduct as well.
We are offering tailor-made programmes and customized tours as well and adjust dates and prices according to your needs.
Reservations
If you wish to register for an Ecotours tour or trip you should complete a reservation form and send it to us electronically or by mail to our address.
Reservations for tours require a deposit of 50% of the total price per person of which 25% is non-refundable upon receipt. Travellers will be notified of the amount which they must deposit and the deadline by which they register. We accept reservations with deposits in order of their receipt. Faxed or telephoned reservations are accepted provided they are followed by the appropriate deposit within 10 days.
Payment
Payment has to be made in either HUF (Hungarian Forint), USD ($), Euro (€) or British Pound (Ł) and should be made by bank transfer.

Invoices for the balance of trip costs will be mailed about 10 weeks (70 days) before departure date. Payment is due on receipt of our invoice. We adjust the prices to the changes of exchange rates if these exceed 0.1%.
Prices Include
-all travel as noted in the itinerary
-all accommodation, based on shared rooms (most rooms are twin-bedded) At most locations there are single rooms as well for extra charge. Please ask for a single room at the time of booking.
-3 meals per day: generally breakfast at the accommodation, packed lunch and dinner consisting of at least two courses
-services of the leader(s)
-trip materials and maps if they are available
-permits to visit National Parks
Prices do not include
-passports and visas,
-airport and other departure taxes,
-food beyond generally 3 meals/day mentioned in the itineraries,
-tips,
-immunizations,
-excess baggage charges,
-optional programs,
-telephone calls,
-alcoholic beverages,
-laundry,
-room service, snacks and anything of a purely personal nature.

Refunds
If notice of cancellation is received in writing more than 10 weeks (70 days) before departure of a tour of one week or longer, the deposit is refundable.
If notice of cancellation is received between 10 weeks and 5 weeks (35 days) before departure, half of the deposit is not refundable.
If notice of cancellation is received 5 weeks or less before departure the deposite is not refundable.
Tour and Trip Alterations
Ecotours Hungary reserves the right to cancel or alter the content of a tour if this is necessary. Changes in itinerary may occur because of dramatic change in the weather, unexpected seasonal changes or simply because the group would like to have a change. If major changes are necessary before the start of the trip, participants will be informed and may withdraw without penalty if they choose so. If we have to change while the tour is in progress the additional costs, if any, are the responsibility of the traveller.
Travel Insurance
Although Hungary is as safe as any other country in Europe, we ask you to consider purchasing a travel insurance.
The pace of our tours and physical exertion
Generally there is no extreme physical exercise required, but sometimes we climb hills or walk on wet terrain. Although the effort is always rewarding, if you feel tired or just would like to have a break, you will usually have a chance to stay at the van instead of walking. Some days, you should be able to complete walks of a few hours duration and you should meet the schedule of the tour each day.
If you have a health problem, please advise us in writing at the time you reserve your tour.
Tour Cancellation
We reserve the right to cancel any tour or trip for which there are insufficient reservations 5 weeks (35 days) before the departure date. In case of cancellation, all deposits and other payments for the tour or trip will be refunded.
Trip Materials
Detailed itineraries, past or prospective list of sights and species, general information will be sent to each registrant on receipt of a deposit.
Final information, meeting instructions and additional material, if any, will be mailed about 20 days before tour departure.
Responsibility
Ecotours Hungary Travel Agency Ltd., in operating the land arrangements is responsible to the tour participants for supplying the services and accommodations offered to the participants as stated in the brochure.
Ecotours Hungary Travel Agency Ltd. disclaims all liability for any death, injury, damage, loss, accident, or irregularity which may be occasioned either by reason of any defect in any vehicle, or through the acts or defaults of any company or person engaged in conveying the passenger, or of any hotel proprietor or servant of any person engaged in carrying out the purpose for which all orders, tickets, and coupons are issued, or otherwise in connection therewith. The right to alter any land tour arrangement is reserved.
Ecotours Hungary Travel Agency Ltd. will not be responsible for any damage, expense, or inconvenience caused by late air, train, or boat arrivals or departures or by any change of schedule or other conditions, nor will they be responsible for the loss of, or damage to, baggage or any article belonging to the passenger.
